In the 4th installment of the Mission Impossible series, Ethan Hunt and his team are racing against time to track down a dangerous terrorist named Hendricks, who has gained access to Russian nuclear launch codes and is planning a strike on the United States.
An attempt by the team to stop him at the Kremlin ends in a disaster, with an explosion causing severe destruction to the Kremlin and the IMF being implicated in the bombing, forcing the President to invoke Ghost Protocol, under which the IMF is disavowed, and will be offered no help or backup in any form.
Undaunted, Ethan and his team chase Hendricks to Dubai, and from there to Mumbai, but several spectacular action sequences later, they might still be too late to stop a disaster
What's right with it?
Tom Cruise is crazy enough to do any stunt imaginable. Throw in a little espionage action and you’ve got a great film
Lots of funny moments, especially with Simon Pegg
Lots of silly moments too, but that doesn’t make it bad
What’s wrong with it?
The level of product placement is ridiculous. Ethans entire team uses Apple products, be it iPhones, iPads and Macbooks.
Some bits to me were a little too far fetched and coincidental but hey, that’s what these kind of movies do best. Just sit back and switch off your brain for some parts
The scene in, and outside of, the worlds tallest building
Benji Dunn: [showing a glove] Now remember: "Blue is glue!".
Ethan Hunt: And red?
Benji Dunn: Dead.
Brandt: The rope isn't long enough!
Ethan Hunt: No shit!
Benji Dunn: Why am I Pluto? It's not even a planet anymore!
Brandt: Well, Uranus is still available.
Benji Dunn: [sarcastically] Ha, it's funny 'cuz you said anus.
Jeremy Renner's character Brandt, was specifically created as the eventual replacement for Tom Cruise's character Ethan Hunt for when Cruise decides to step away from the franchise.
Tom Cruise performed the sequence where Ethan Hunt scales the outside of the Burj Khalifa tower himself without the use of a stunt double. The Burj Khalifa tower is the tallest building in the world.
Ethan Hunt's code number is "A113" and another character's class ring reads "A113." A113 is a frequent Pixar in-joke based on one of the room numbers for the animation program at Cal Arts. The director Brad Bird worked for Pixar, and he has worked an "A113" reference into every one of his feature films, as well as some of his television work.
The code Ethan uses at the pay phone to get his latest mission is actor Tom Cruise's birthday, 07362
From what I’ve heard from other people it’s either the best of the bunch, not as good as the first, better than the first, not as good as the second, better than the second and better than the third
All I can safely say is each individual director brings their own personality to the franchise
Personally I think 2 is the best, followed by 1 then this one. I haven’t seen the third one
Go watch it!!!
and if you disagree?
